Mioara Chiparus  (b. 1976), is a native Romanian citizen, currently residing in Athens, Greece. Her portrait photography is well known for crossing the expected lines and boundaries of traditional photography, ever striving to capture the quintessential in human experience and being. After completing a degree in International Affairs at George Washington University in Washington, DC, Mioara followed her passion to pursue a professional career in photography, completing a one-year program at the Leica Academy in Athens and attending several workshops with Magnum photographers: Thomas Dworzak, Alex Webb, Gueorgui Pinkhassov and Jacob Aue Sobol. Mioara dedicates her time, effort, and heart to documentary and portrait photography, on a quest to inspire greater empathic awareness of the human condition as it is experienced in the 21st Century. She endeavors to draw those who view her photographs intimately into the lives of others and from there into a deeper questioning of their own roles in the world. Mioara performs studio and environmental portraits and is available for commission work in Greece and abroad. She speaks Romanian, English, Greek and German.
